- In the name of jmacleod@unixg.ubc.ca the following words were written:
-
- *I do not know how many Toasters were sold, but I do know that many of
- *them were used in places where people were learning about video. I can
- *not imagine what the ratio would be but for every toaster sold I bet it
- *was used to educate quite a few people.
-
- *The toaster really did give access to tools that many people would not
- *have had access to. however, in teaching people do you think the Toaster
- *was kind of a double edged sword in that it educated people it also
- *taught them not to use it. Dont get me wrong the toaster is great.
-
- *I know many peopel that learned on the toaster and are now working on
- *much better equipment.
-
- *I dont know, just a thought.
-
- The toaster hardly killed itself... Newtek would not exist today if not
- for what the toaster did in its hey day... it sold well... you are right
- however it wows a lot and educates a lot of poeple who are later seen on
- better equipment... 1. the toaster is simply not up to true broadcast
- stsandards... most pros wouldn't touch it at the studio I used to work...
- 2. on the level it on however you cant do better for the price, saving
- local cable and public broadcasting thousands in equipment cost...
